The McCartney Story
McCartney Produce Company opened for business in July 1947 as a small produce wholesaler delivering to independent grocers and small restaurants. Our initial delivery area included only two states, Tennessee and Kentucky, and our drivers sold the produce directly off their trucks when they arrived at the customer’s location. It wasn’t until 1968 that we started accepting phone sales in advance of delivery.
Today we serve ten states from two locations, our corporate office and primary warehouse in Paris, Tennessee and our sales office in Paducah, Kentucky. We offer a staff of well-trained, expert merchandisers who are in constant communication with our customers to meet their unique needs and expectations. These merchandisers travel extensively to meet our customers in person and see for themselves what each location needs. At McCartney, we pride ourselves on our ability to listen to the needs of our customers and meet those needs with quality merchandise at a fair price and with unequalled service. We continue to look for ways to improve our service and options and in January 2007 we joined forces with Piazza Produce and Indianapolis Fruit. We can now offer our customers the synergies of volume purchasing and distribution capabilities. This merger also gives us the ability to provide an extensive line of organic fruits and vegetables, Garden Cut items and other specialty products within a 24 hour period.
